Our
tutored mini art foundation course has been created to inspire and develop your
artistic skills and help you fulfil your creative talents. This art
foundation course teaches traditional techniques alongside more playful
and innovative techniques to help awaken the artist inside and to overcome
painting inhibitions.
By the
end of the course you should be feeling not only confident at image
creation in various media, but also have gained direction and
focus to continue in your artistic development for the future.
This course is designed
for complete beginners and accomplished amateur artists alike. There will
be many new skills and techniques discovered throughout the week, as well
as refreshing any skills you have already have. We will be working
in the studio as well as taking trips to local landscapes for Plein-Air
painting and sketching.
The sort of things you
will learn over the week are:

drawing skills:
drawing, sketching and mark-making

tone and colour:
work in various media exploring tonal and colour values

media:
discover a variety of media including inks, acrylics, oils,
pastels, charcoal, mixed media, printmaking, collage

subjects: we
will cover landscape, townscapes, waterscapes and abstract

exploration:
gaining materials from nature and around the home to create images;
mark-making without brushes and pencils; home-made pigments; home-made
paper; home-made painting supports
